2016 went by way too fast for my liking and left me with far too many things undone. One of those things was to start a blog. I have no one to blame but myself for not writing and engaging with many of the other minds out there, so when I heard about Steemit this week (a bit later than I should [have](http://ift.tt/2iuSGLM)), I thought this would be a great opportunity to start and learn about an exciting new platform. # About Me A bit of background on me. I moved to the US from Germany as a baby and grew up there before moving to Switzerland for a few years, the Netherlands, and the UK. I have a few graduate degrees one focused on turbo machinery and propulsion systems, the other in philosophy, although I've spent the latter part of my 20's professionally in the data science and machine learning world which I find absolutely fascinating. In addition to these, I read widely in economics, political theory, ethics, and history as well. If you can't tell already, I've got a wide variety of interests and may come across as a bit disorganized and unfocused. If that's the case, so be it. I don't see any reason to limit myself to a narrow range of topics or interests, in fact, I think that's a big detriment to a lot of modern education programs (maybe a topic for a future post). # What I'm Here For My chief aim is to learn. I've found time and time again that the best way for me to deepen my understanding and clarify my thoughts is by working through them in writing and getting criticism and constructive feedback. I'm hoping to use this exciting new platform to contribute to the conversation and continue to grow and thank those of you in advance for your honest interactions. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J http://ift.tt/2ipMTJm
